Inspiration and accolades!

Inspiration first!

I’m a self taught sculptor and I’m constently perusing other artist’s work/blogs.  The other day at lunch I was doing such a thing and ran across an artist that I FELL IN LOVE WITH!  Well, her work anyway.  Her work is amazing and the stories just as exquiset!  While she is new to me I’m sure there are many of you out there that have already stumbled upon her fabulous work.  But just in case you are as clueless as I was then here ya go!  Just behold the fabulous sculpture done by B.B. Flockling!

Andrew the Pixie

While this little guy is just perfect and the story touching, my favorite has to be her rendition of Pippi Longstockings!

Pippi

I don’t know about you but I’ll be following B.B. Flockling’s blog to see the next creation to come from her mastermind!

On to the Accolades!

Ok, so it is a little late in getting out here in Cyber-land, at least by our own hands but as my grandma always says “Better late than never”. About 6 months ago this little trio got the idea to partake in the state fair via a new capacity this year..Instead of just being a spectator and cotton candy eater, why not compete! So we frantically got to work on a multitude of projects and made sure previously done pieces were up to par and “packaged” as required…the more you enter the higher your chance at winning something right?!?!?!  So enter we did, a total of 13 pieces!  Crocheted madness, knitted corsets, quilts quilted with love, and even a painstakingly swirled batch of peanut butter fudge.  We then proceeded to forget about our entries until my little girl pipes up that she wants to go to the fair! My response… “oh, my wonder what the results were!!!)

Parking madness and all the whole crew heads to the fair…

Munch on some hotdogs, have the requisite sweets and off to the exhibits section we go!
Slowly but surely we wind our way through rows and rows of jam, canned foods, stunning clothing pieces, 4-h entries…then a screech of joy is heard a few rows over…then another…then another…WE WON!!!!  Jumping for joy, giggling and laughing we proceed to hold back not a drop of our exuberance!  Bare with the not so great photography…all I had was my cell phone, but we HAD to snap a few pictures!  Here are our winnings, heck even the peanut butter fudge placed!!! (P.S.  several of these pieces are for sale, just click on the link in it’s title to go to their very own special shop page :) )

Can you believe it!  4 Blue Ribbons, 2 Second place winners, 1 third, 1 fourth, and 1 honorable mention!  Not too shabby for a couple of girls entering on a whim!

Let the creativity begin! Thanks Michelle!!!

QuirkyK here with news of creative sturrings!  A bit of a back story first…

I wanted to get a jump start on next years fair entry (P.S. I’ll give you details on this years entry soon!), so off I go in search of my fabulous ceramic tatting shuttle by Laddy ShuttleMaker.  But alas, it is nowhere to be found :( .  Distraught as I was, I do believe this sparked the lull in creativity that proceeded to ensue…

So what does a girl do when her creative mojo is low?  My solution…ask your customers for inspiration! well…I didn’t get much of a response, but then again we are still working on making our Facebook presence more engaging!!  I digress!  Thanks to Michelle, an old school friend, the creativity that I’ve been lacking is back!  Her ideas included lace, seahorses, and lime green.

Great ideas and shortly thereafter the tools of the trade grace my mailbox!  Yep you guessed it, I replaced my shuttle!  And look look, aren’t they just BEAUTIFUL!

With ideas and tools back…drum roll….

A tatted Seahorse necklace is soon to emerge!

Well at least I hope so!  This will be my very own adaptation from a very very cool seahorse pattern I found while perusing Bridge City Tatting’s Blog.

I have no idea HOW this will turn out but I’m game for trying, wish me luck!

From my imagination to your hands I say Namaste,

QuirkyK here..Long time no see…

Ok, so I’m one of those people in blog-land that let life get in the way of updating this place!  Sorry about that everyone!

A lot has changed since my last post informing the world that I would soon be adding another bundle of joy to our Zoo Crew (by that I mean a baby :) ).  Well, he has come into this nutty world and survived his first 2 years…yes, it has been that long since I’ve been on here.  Here is the little guy enjoying a day at the park..

Jordan

I digress…the short and skinny on the personal side of things…I’ve had a baby, gotten separated (working on the divorce), almost finished up an Associates degree, sprouted curly hair, and ohhhh sooo much more!  As for the business tidings…we did it!  We finally got up an Etsy site with PRODUCTS!!  It is high time our customers got to see something OTHER than our shop policies LOL!!

Now you may wonder why the QuirkyK tag in the title…well..I’m going to do my best to get my other business ladies involved here on the blog!  So without further ado I present to you the trio of Quirky Bits-n-Pieces, otherwise known as QuirkyC, QuirkyD, and you guessed it…QuirkyK.  Now who on earth are these ladies…More on that to come in future posts!   For now, know that we are updating Etsy as often as possible.  And this little corner of the web will soon offer you our loyal readers and customers discounts, prizes, ideas, and random tid bits..Quirky Tid Bits that is.  And we sincerly hope that this can be a place where you the consumer can offer feedback and ideas of your own.  We want to offer you the things you love most, in unique and fabulous ways.  So if you have requests, or our randomness sparks a thought, SHARE THEM!!!

QuirkyK here is off on a personal note to do some much needed homework (graduation in March!!!), busy (personal or business) the trio will BE BACK SOON!!!

From my imagination to your hands I say Namaste,
